First World War Commemoration in Waltham Forest

Slick is the word.

A feast of high class entertainment met we the ticket-holders at Waltham Forest Assembly Hall E17. Tonight was a commemoration event to mark the first day of WW1 in 1914, one hundred years ago. It was that good. Two choirs, beautiful poetry readings, magical projections on the posh walls, brilliant piano playing and a ten year old solo violinist. The MC was excellent with a voice as sonorous as Richard Burton’s.

The lights went off at ten and we shielded our candles  from our wine-soaked breath to admire the burning beacon.

Very well done!
