Pub crawl

Started a new east end project today as a volunteer and attended the introductory session. It’s all about vanished pubs of E16, (boo hoo or otherwise) and their social and possible leftist political importance

Not feeling it yet. Visited Derelict London and Lost Pubs websites before. Mmm, Never pubbed in my life. Was intrigued about an artist facilitating the whole thing.

Up Your Street subscribers were again out in force. We are the rent-a-crowd. One of us feigned sickness in case the Imam or her ‘sisters’ found out that she were cohorting with public house people. Those same sisters wouldn’t touch Leyton Technical  yesterday even though Halal turkey were an option. Please some of the people some of the time.

Popped by Maryland to The Rabbit Hole to collect RAGWORKS Anansi, Oil Palm Daughter, Dr Foster and  Red Riding Hood as they had to come down before time so that Nicci could install her winter wonderland. Smart and festive.

Okay which vanished pubs shall I Google?

Meanwhile…all together…

As Soon As This Pub Closes

I could have done it yesterday if I hadn’t a cold,
But since I’ve put this pint away I’ve never felt so bold.

So as soon as this pub closes, as soon as this pub closes,

As soon as this pub closes, the revolution starts.

I’ll shoot the aristocracy and confiscate their brass,

Create a fine democracy that’s truly working class.

As soon as this pub closes, as soon as this pub closes,

As soon as this pub closes, I’ll raise the banner high.
I’ll fight the nasty racialists and scrap the colour bar,

And all fascist dictatorships and every commissar.

As soon as this pub closes, as soon as this pub closes,

As soon as this pub closes, I’ll man the barricades.
So raise your glasses, everyone, for everything is planned,

And each and every mother’s son will see the Promised Land.

As soon as this pub closes, as soon as this pub closes,

As soon as this pub closes, I think I’m going to be sick.
