London Irish Women’s Centre

First meeting today of the reading group in LIWC, Church Street, Stokey.

Going to recommend Easter’s “The Watermen”, Smith-Bendell’s “Rabbit Stew and a penny or two” and Fonseca’s “Bury me Standing” not that I’ve read them but the time-schedule of reading groups makes you get on with it and the books are given out freely too!

Later off to The Water Works cafe  in Lea Bridge Rd to munch with Mary Katherine of Mary Katherine Presents on Streetlifefm. community radio.  If not there then it will be Dennis’ Chippy, Lea Bridge Road E10 . Fish supper to die for!  Well, it is Friday!

It’s over these past weeks I’ve seen how many Up Your Street5 subscribers are Roman Catholic what with all the fasting for Lent and the mass in the mornings and evenings and then gawd Bless us “Holy Week” is upon us next week indeed. What does it all mean? There are rumblings that community meetings should not be scheduled for Lent month in line with how consideration is given to those who observe Ramadan. Is it? Is it really?

Can’t wait for next week’s Radio 3   starting on Sunday evening at 9pm “Mystery Plays”   set in Modern Day London. Check the listing time as website says differently to broadcaster in my ear now. Plays about Old Testament stories in the Bible.
