That was a day that was!

Oh my! Hackney looks lush in this weather with trees everywhere looking healthy. All along the 56 bus route there are massed branches of greenness and roses in neglected sorry-looking gardens and some tidy ones.

The walk from Essex Road through Dagmar Terrace into the St Mary’s Community Centre in Upper Street is full of trees and houses which are never up for sale and do people really live in them? Too posh to soil. The Stuart Low Trust had laid on supper as usual in the Centre. Tonight’s free treat was the band “The Light Brigade” playing to the crowd mainly 1960s music; touch of Bacharach, forgotten number ones, The Carpenters and other foot-tappers.

I do like The Angel, Islington area because it’s mixed in its population and I get to hear English as a spoken language. I like Chapel Market, Precious Stones at Number 14, Iceland because all their sugar products are dead cheap and the McDonald’s there because they have free tea on Wednesday morning for pensioners. I love the architecture all around there.
